Tips For Growing Bonsai in Tilden Lake, Ontario

Bonsai Re-potting for Beginners in Tilden Lake

For every bonsai tree, eventually comes a time when its root system has taken all the space in the pot, restricting additional development necessary to support the growing plant. To deal with this issue, an operation of bonsai repotting and root pruning must be carried out. It will reorganize the root system and allow the tree to grow vigorously and healthy for many years. Tips in the next article will give you an overview on how best to perform bonsai repotting by yourself.

First, you need to check whether it's already the time for repotting that is bonsai. This has to be done every year during early spring, when the tree remains in dormancy. Gently ease the tree out of its own pot and analyze the rootball. Should you see long roots encircling the rootball or the interior side of the pot, it's already the time for bonsai repotting to be implemented.
Prepare a brand new pot, in which the tree will be planted, or clean the old one. Cover the drainage holes with a plastic mesh, fastening it using a part of wire. Then place a layer of grit on the base of the pot, on top of it a layer of earth, on which the tree will probably be planted, after which to permit emptying.

When the pot is prepared, the following part of the bonsai repotting process is to displace the old ground from the rootball, preferably using chopsticks. Then prune the longest roots with a sharp pair of scissors or shears. Also search for just about any infected, dead, wounded or decaying roots, and remove them too to refrain from dispersing root rot. Plan to remove up to 1/3 of general root mass.

Eventually place the tree in the pot that is prepared and tie it with the wire that is anchorage, to make sure that it won't be rocked by wind in the forthcoming weeks, when its roots are not yet completely regenerated. Fill the remaining portion of the pot with fresh soil, ensuring that there are no air pockets. Water the compost thoroughly, to help it settle.

With the bonsai repotting operation whole, the tree will need about six weeks for regeneration. After that, its root system is going to have the ability to grow freely, growing more fine feeder roots in a more compact rootball, than what could be performed with roots that are unpruned. This will translate into more essential nutrients feeding your precious plant, and in effect its improved health, vibrancy as well as your enjoyment of its beauty.
