Bonsai Re-potting for Beginners in Starrucca
For each tree that is bonsai, eventually comes a time when its root system has taken all the space in the pot, restricting further development necessary to support the growing plant. A process of bonsai repotting and root pruning should be completed, to deal with this dilemma. The root system will be reorganized by it and permit the tree to grow vigorously and healthy for a long time. Hints in the next post provides you with an overview on how best to do bonsai repotting by yourself.
First, you should test whether it is already the time for bonsai repotting. When the tree is still in dormancy, this must be done each year during early springtime. Gently ease the tree from its own pot and analyze the rootball. It is already the time for bonsai repotting to be executed should you see long roots encircling the inner side of the pot or the rootball.
Prepare a brand new pot, where the tree will be put, or clean the old one. Cover the drainage holes using a plastic mesh, securing it with a part of wire. Then put a layer of grit on the underside of the pot, then, and to allow draining on top of it a layer of earth, where the tree will probably be put.

Another step in the bonsai repotting procedure is to displace the old soil from your rootball, preferably using chopsticks when the pot is ready. Then prune the longest roots with a sharp pair of scissors or shears. Also search for just about any rotting, dead, injured or infected roots, and remove them too to avoid dispersing root rot. Plan to remove up to 1/3 of general root mass.
Eventually place the tree inside the pot that is prepared and tie it with the anchorage wire, to make certain that wind won't rocks it in the coming weeks, when its roots are not yet completely regenerated. Fill the remaining portion of the pot with fresh soil, ensuring there are no air pockets. Water the compost completely, to help it settle.
With the bonsai repotting operation complete, the tree will need about six weeks for regeneration. After that, its root system is going to be able to grow growing more fine feeder roots in a denser rootball, than what could be performed with unpruned roots. This will translate into more essential nutrients feeding your precious plant, and in your enjoyment of its attractiveness along with effect its improved health, vibrancy.
