Bonsai Repotting for Beginners in Deford
For each tree that is bonsai, eventually comes a time when its root system has taken all the space in the pot, limiting further development needed to support the growing plant. To address this dilemma, a process of bonsai repotting and root pruning should be performed. It will reorganize the root system and permit the tree to grow healthy and vigorously for a long time. Hints in the next post provides you with an overview on how to do bonsai repotting by yourself.
First, you should test whether it is already the time for bonsai repotting. This has to be done annually during early springtime, when the tree is still in dormancy. Gently ease the tree from its own pot and examine the rootball. Should you see long roots encircling the rootball or the inner side of the pot, it's already the time for bonsai repotting to be implemented.
Prepare a fresh pot, when the tree will likely be planted, or clean the old one. Cover using a plastic net, fixing it with a part of wire. Then put a layer of grit on the bottom of the pot, then, and to enable emptying of earth, on which the tree will be put a layer on top of it.

When the pot is prepared, the next part of the bonsai repotting process would be to displace the old ground from your rootball, rather using chopsticks. Prune the longest roots with a sharp pair of scissors or shears. Also search for any roots that are dead, rotting, wounded or infected, and remove them too to refrain from dispersing root rot. Plan to remove up to 1/3 of general root mass.
Finally set the tree inside the prepared pot and tie it with the wire that is anchorage, to make certain that wind won't rocks it in the forthcoming weeks, when its roots are not yet fully regenerated. Fill the remaining portion of the pot with fresh soil, ensuring that there are no air pockets. Water the compost completely, to help it settle.
With the bonsai repotting operation whole, the tree will need about six weeks for regeneration. After that, its root system will likely be able to grow growing more fine feeder roots in a more compact rootball, than what might be achieved with unpruned roots. This can translate into more essential nutrients feeding your cherished plant, and in effect its improved health, vibrancy along with your enjoyment of its beauty.
